In recent years, the vertical farm business has been gaining attention as a new form of agriculture and there are approximately 200 businesses in Japan (Investigation by Japan Greenhouse Horticulture Association). SPREAD is leading the industry as a successful vertically farmed vegetable producer and has achieved profitability at Kameoka Plant since March 2013.

SPREAD’s Strength
  1. Large-scale Cultivation
    SPREAD operates two large-scale vertical farms in Kyoto prefecture: Kameoka (daily production: 2.1t) and Techno Farm Keihanna (daily production: 3t).

    SPREAD has rich know-how in environmental control and cultivation, accumulated through years of operating Kameoka Plant. At Techno Farm Keihanna SPREAD adds automation and IoT into the mix, which allows it to reach extremely high operating rate of approximately 99% at both farms.
  5. Branding and Marketing based on Market Needs
    Total production is done in-house from product concepts and package designs to storefront displays based on current food and lifestyle trends. Our expert sales team manages the needs of our retail customers with our products currently being sold in approximately 4,000 stores across the country.
